6 layers of linoleum were removed to discover the original 1935 vinyl sheet layer. After extracting 100s of staples and nails, we have no idea what the original print actually looked like. Now it appears as some exotic leather. Quite a few areas were damaged and had to be refilled with Wood filler and stained. To make it all look like intentional design and to preserve it forever, I painted 3 layers of a new type of water-based Polyurethane with one more to go. Now the whole floor looks very glossy, (look at the reflection of the fridge and stove) and it feels very solid.
